Seriously tho, issues would be position, gears (I think you're underestimating how much you'll miss the top end), geometry (especially stability at speed). Stuff like weight and aero are secondary bit still quite important for BIG rides.

Like it or not, the road bike is pretty well-designed for long rides on roads.
