I think hot pockets are the really cheap and mass produced version of calzones.
Like just cheap dough with a tomato-ish and pseudo-cheese filling.
A calzone from a decent restaurant you can get with real tomato sauce, real mozzarella and then whatever else you want, e.g. mushrooms, ham, pepperoni.
