Conflating the I that sees itself as the body and the I that knows it's not the body is to confuse the two selves as one when only one of the two selves is the ontological immortal soul, while the other self is consubstantial "ensouled" self which is bound to physical death. Those that don't understand this always make wild assumptions. Take care of your body, but you are not the body. Thinking that emotions is all that is worth living for is what hedonists and materialists strive for.
