Physicality is an attribute of the physical world, the kosmos aisthetos, "matter", but that isn't to say that there isn't a metaphysical world, the kosmos noetos, "shapes". The Psyche/soul is within both aspects of the illusory dual realm of the cosmos, but there is an unmanifest realm that is at the center of the universe, not physically though since there's no way of escaping the field of manifestation while within the field itself. The dual nature of the cosmos are lesser expressions of the singular source that emanated both the seen and unseen. The ouroboros is really a net value of 0 in a perpetual state of creation and destruction, beginningless and endless, unlimit, limitless, for it is the psyche tou pantos, the panpsychic collective of the cosmos that is inseparable with the Nous/"Intellect"/"Spirit" but it is only it's manifest attribution to the unmanifest divine state of the Nous of which only knows itself as the Monad while the Monad itself doesn't know, it just is pure unmanifest potential of which the Nous can be though of as a mirror that reflects back into the sun as it only sees itself as the sun. The reason why Plato uses fire in the cave analogy is because the Nous having unlimited potential also have unlimited expression of the potential so it releases said energy outside of itself which in doing so only forms a hollow, empty shadow of itself as a projected "shadow puppet".

Let me say it this way, imagine a movie projector. There's light at one end, there's a film roll, then there's the projected image. The light that has gone through the film is the consubstantial self. The film itself is not you. Who you really are is the unadulterated form of light before it had gone through the film.
