Are those marriage stats?
It makes sense when you account for the fact that women like to marry 'up'. Korea, China & the U.S are roughly economically similar to Japan so men from those countries would most likely be educated & higher status men, but the looking at the other chart Thailand and the Phillipines women are poorer countries so the women who marry Japanese men are most likely not high status or educated.
