That's kinda what I did with my current one. Just bought a used laptop from someone and upgraded the ram for around 70 euros. Not too bad imho. I have one friend who's a Macbook user who even told me that I played it smarter by buying a regular laptop for 1/10 of the price of a Macbook

Some companies give them to employees or use them in work frequently methinks.

There's those new M1 Macbooks that "seem" pretty fast and powerful compared to anything else available for PCs. But maybe it's a little overpriced.
