We had a splendid basho! Kirishima had the yusho, 12-3, and he is promoted back to ozeki. While Onosato had to kyujo, Hoshoryu was able to finish the tournament. Weak results from a yokozuna, but at least he had his first win over Aonishiki, who held a 0-5 winning streak over him. While we at Aonishiki, 7-8, became kadoban. He is strong and quick, with wits, but he relies much on his distinctive style and the other rikishis figured him out. Each tried to force him out of his stance, pushing him up, denying his advantage. He needs to mature, widen his horizon. He is good but he has to adapt. He also needs to learn the others. I'm a bit sad that OHO ended up with a negative balance, but Fujinokawa got in the green with this win. I suspect OHO gave this to him, or at least made it easier, playing along with the throw. Audience loves this, reminds me of that Midorufji vs Hokuseiho bout where the tiny one similarly threw the big lad. It is also a show.
Down in juryo Kazuma and Wakanosho did really good, both are young and seem talented. Dewanoryu got the yusho there, beating Wakanosho in the playoff. Takerufuji isn't 100% yet, but his stable mate Toshinofuji did well.
The whole thing was a great entertainment, too bad Slovbudy missed it all.
