AfD won an election victory in Saxony-Anhalt, some described it as "landslide".
Germany is a federal republic consisting of states, which hold local elections for their parliaments or landtags, to form new legislation and state government.
In Saxony-Anhalt the parties competing for 83 seats, 42 needed for the majority.

Classic CDU win, but AfD was already growing party, many forecasting rising popularity. Weird thing, it did rise. In the past 5 years the CDU did enough to dig itself down.

High turnout 77,82%. Lots of people went and gave their vote in the hope to change the incompetent garbage CDU government. They really want different direction for Germany. They achieved 43,79%!
But the thing is it will mean little. Most likely.

It is quite likely that noone will form a coalition with AfD, even tho they only need 3 seats. There is some chance that BSW, the Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance on the far left might cooperate with them, and that would be enough. Both parties have similar stances in various questions. Quoting Wikipee:

This really mirrors AfDs goals.
So if BSW wants anything from their goals to bear fruit, they have to cooperate with AfD. If they just want to oppose evil far-right, then they'll have to give up all their stances and give support to parties that want the direct opposite things the BSW voters want.
