I might not call it Victorian morals, it's moar liek Victorian prudeness that made sex taboo, filthy and mysterious. The morals was the same: Christian morality, it just get some coating on the surface. Previously sex lots of times was in the open (for example peasant family in a small crowded house wouldn't get much choice on the long cold winter evenings) then they made it all hush-hush which then turned society to obsess with it as people very like secret and mysterious stuff.

Opportunity is changed too with urbanization. In a village of 3-500 people where everybody knows everybody and everybody knows everything what's happening there's not much chance of fucking on the side and not many people to choose from. Maybe sometimes when soldiers march through the land and stop at a village for a night or two.
But now with metropolises where noone knows each other and with lots of potential partners things are different. For example if I lived in New York it would mean potentially I could have sex almost the same number of women Hungary has.
