The BBC crew pressured me to join a tournament in early January so I caved in and signed up for the beginner category.
The draws are out today and my first match (it's single elimination) is against the guy who despite getting 3rd & 2nd the past two years still considers himself a beginner and insists on smurfing some more instead of playing against more capable opponents.
Should I just kill myself not show up? The joint is three hours away and since it's winter it's probably raining too.
Also, without consulting me first the organizers decided to pair me up with a 11yo child to play mixed doubles and I kinda don't want to do that.
