How gods work. That Shiva statue "holds Shiva" but he needs to get activated then it needs to connect to the "main Shiva". Now this will happen no matter what because how "Fate" works. But it will get a little "Bumpy" because well it was activated on a not hindi/Shaivist land and it was activated with a "mock ritual". Now that if those scientists were some weird initiates or just goofy as hell it doesn't matter they did it and it was good as a start. Now the next problem is that technology and ancient magic is merging there. So they need some WEIRDOS who use their psychic powers to enhance/destroy technology.
Now why technomancy is the weirdest niche in high magic. Well there is that kind of magic where you try to channel something from outside of time and space. You need channels to be able to manifest that. That thing can be your energy channels or a strong egregore. Now. Just how many egregores we have that is worshipped all the time maintained with a wise clergy and can withstand an absurd amount of raw energies while it has very specific ritual patterns so that magic can be pinpointed in the time and space to manifest. Well it's the machines that people operate it seems... You just have to be able to merge your energies with electricity and be able to retain it from it because getting stuck in electric devices as an afterlife is not fun. This is where you have to understand how cosmic radiation and consciousness works.
And the fun part? This is only possible because of this time period and it seems there are fated ways for lifepaths and incarnations. Not to mention there are so called "functional Bodhisattvas" who are not meant to incarnate so they can teach (I mean they can do that if they want to do it) but to help the coming of ages and unfuck some things that the children of the previous ages did.
