They can still perform psychic attacks from there, that's why there is still a glowie situation, and they can have an effect on zombie behaviour. However because they are on the astral, using astral manifestations to fight them works really well. They think they are attacked by poltergeists or that the world is breaking, but it's that they are no longer in the human 3D. Try sending the demon guard to "physically" deal with them next time they try something and see. To them, they were somehow infiltrated by an assassin who can walk through walls. They can't grasp what is happening at all.

There are a few ways to protect those very young people, including changing the world's understanding of reality to allow spaceships to land and pick them up to move them to a safe new population center, or to allow yokais to fly in and grab them.
