Except there's no limitation, they can allow him to change and even give him sides the show dosen't show for obvious reasons (anger to fight back, depression over the constant BS in his life, etc), but still keep him the same person, not a changed person. a grown one.

More often than not, writefags will do the following...

he thinks it's wrong, he does it, he falls in love. rinse and repeat 9 times(less if two sisters at once)
>drama story
something fucked up happens and now Lincoln is a no nonsense brooder who dosen't have time for jokes or comics(bonus points if his family is the reason and now he hates their guts)
>SK story
either a useless deadbeat or a Y/N DILF.

They can make him grow or change from an experience, but that dosen't mean they should write a character who's similar to Lincoln in nothing but name and hair.
