Man. I had my hopes for a while. You're right, outside Connor no Clyde ever sticks around gracefully. Clyde's Lori and Leni gets kid retconned and returned, barely anyone remembers Cindy, and Cleo is half stuck as one of Lincoln's concubines/daughter and and the other half as untapped character
