>>7267Host finally made the medlar tart for Easter. It turned out very well. The medlar filling is the brown layer between cake and cream - obviously. Ground roasted hazelnuts (bought) on top. We also have our own hazelnuts but they ripen in summer and were long consumed.
I wanted to slice the cake part into two disks and add an additional layer of medlar filling between them, but it turned out too thin and started to crumble. Doesn't matter, it was still great. The taste is really unique. Like apple pie but with more flavor and more sour.
