They're Christian in the cultural sense since they're broadly orthodox in comparative religion terms, but yes if you don't have a biblical gospel you can't be called Christian.

As someone who has been raised with the roman catholic faith, what do you mean about not having a biblical gospel? The gospel is a part of the bible, isn't it? The part of the new testament by St. Mathew, St. Mark, St. Luke, and St. John? That was something that was taught??? New to this board, didn't realize there was a christain community on image boards, as most Christians I know are older folks, and they still think D&D is satan worship, and video games lead to violence. And as long as I'm posting, what is this board all about? People here at least seem open to discussing the faith without all those foolish ideas that were somehow adopted that anything new is evil.

He probably means that catholicism don't teach salvation through faith.
Ex raised catholic here. There's a lot of problems with catholic take on the Bible. I think it would be best if you set off to read the whole thing yourself, even a catholic translation will do but remember that some words are mistranslated then there's problems with manuscripts (protestant bibles also have some issues so don't fall for KJV-only - speaking as someone that partially did for a time) and you'll need to investigate original meanings to get to the bottom of it but that can wait, just don't rush to final conclusions before you research deeper. Approach it with honesty and pray to God for truth. It won't be easy but the issues with Roman Catholic Church will become apparent.
Cultivate a desire for truth and God won't leave you in lies.

"The gospel" is the "good news" about how to receive eternal life. Roman catholics (and others) inject works like participation in sacraments as requirements to receive salvation, but the Bible teaches salvation by faith alone. (See Ephesians 2 and John 3:16.)

The first four books of the New Testament are also called "the gospels" because they catalogue the story of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

This board is a holdout from 8chan. We think that imageboards are a good way to talk about our faith, you should stick around.

I guess I’m not a very good Christian, but I think 99.99% of Christians espouse false doctrines in one way or another. In fact, I’ll even say that all Christian doctrines except what Jesus himself taught, are just the “doctrines of men”.

Your impulse is right, we have no agency to take liberty in declaring doctrine. That's why protestantism holds dearly to "sola scriptura", that scripture alone is the authority for Christian teaching. Any doctrine is either true or false based on if it's accurately grounded in what the Bible says.

They are.
Now your mind is changed. You're welcome.

If I can't then the Church Fathers surely can

The KJV is a little stuff and has some foolish translations, so it's a shame that I've still never encountered another bible that even comes close to the level of its prose.
