We are thinking about programming languages that are beyond the current programming of humans (using it mainly for computers/smartphones). Powerful programming languages (without randomness (no surprises), multitasking, with unambiguous absolute control), languages that are capable of programming physical laws (including real universes and virtual reality) and consciousness (including memory and artificial intelligence); so, we can change ourselves as much as we want.

Humans use a lot of useful programs (including visual smartphone apps), they significantly reduce the time/energy needed in tedious tasks that machines do efficiently. They also take away simple human jobs.
It is expected the increase of use/dependence of programs by humans in the near future; that doesn't mean necessarily that humans actually improve themselves.
