exas lawmakers Tuesday preliminarily approved a bill that bans foreign governments, including China and Iran, from purchasing land in the Lone Star State.

Chinese purchases of American land and farmland has been a major under-the-radar issue in recent years.

“Senate Bill 147 strives to put common sense guardrails to protect food and energy and national security, while at the same time, it keeps alive the American dream of homeownership to all, the ability to own a business,” Kolkhorst said.

The bill in question is actually a significantly watered-down version of one that originally would have banned individual citizens of China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia from buying land and homes in Texas.

The U.S. government is taking an active role as “middleman” for international child trafficking, according to explosive allegations from a whistleblower.

U.S. Government ‘Absolutely’ Crucial to Cartel Human Smuggling
In her interview, Rodas explained that the U.S. federal government has become a crucial “middleman” for cartels in their human smuggling operations.
Asked how it took on this role, Rodas explained, “The easiest way to describe it would be beginning with something people are familiar with, which is drug trafficking.”
When it comes to drug trafficking, cartels have to track and protect the product from the point of origin in Central America up until the end user in the United States. Cartels regularly lose huge amounts of narcotics on the border due to customs and inspections. And even when they get the drugs over the border, a lot can go wrong before the product reaches the end user.
Not so with smuggled children, Rodas said.
“So now when we think of child trafficking, what happens is the trafficker leaves [Central America] with the child. They only have to guard the ‘product’ to the U.S. border,” she said. “So then they hand their asset to the U.S. government, who guards their product. They don’t have to worry about losing any product as they cross the border because the U.S. is taking their product and protecting it.”
Later, she emphasized again that “Once they’re over the border, they hand the child to the government. So we then take the ‘product’ so we are securing their investment. We then ship their product to the end user. This is something that I just find so very hard to even to accept.”
Asked whether this process has become a crucial aspect of cartel smuggling operations, Rodas replied “Absolutely.”
“I absolutely believe they see us as part of their business model,” she said. “We saved them a ton of money. We keep them from losing what they consider—I mean, to me, it’s horrific—but that they consider products or assets. We guard their products and their assets and we deliver them directly. It saves them a lot of money, and we are the middleman because we accept their product from the smuggler at the border. We then turn around and deliver the product to the trafficker on this side.”
But when she flew out to Pomona, California, Rodas had no idea that this was happening, in part due to the government failing to warn its agents about that prospect.

Homelessness and drug addiction are a growing problem in cities all over the country, but perhaps most visibly in the northwest, where progressive leaders have allowed the problem to flourish.
In Seattle, the Democrat mayor is proposing to give homeless drug addicts ‘gift cards’ they can use to access treatment services.
This is what passes for solution policy in blue America.
The Post Millennial reports:
Mayor of Seattle wants to solve drug crisis with gift cards Seattle Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell unveiled his fentanyl and downtown activation plan on Monday to combat the massive drug crisis plaguing the city and even included a pilot research program to offer gift cards to encourage drug addicts to accept treatment services. 589 people died due to overdoses in Seattle in 2022, the majority attributed to fentanyl and meth, according to city data. 708 people in King County died from fentanyl in 2022, an average of 1.94 a day.
As of March 15, 172 people in King County have already died of an overdose involving fentanyl, an average of 2.32 a day…
Seattle residents and business owners have said the drug crisis on the streets is scaring people and businesses away from the downtown core. Addicts regularly refuse to accept offers of shelter or services so Harrell’s plan also includes providing low-dollar gift cards to incentivize addicts to get treatment.
The plan also called for creating more resources for people dealing with addiction such as a “contingency management” program to keep overdose survivors clean and increase access to overdose prevention medication like Narcan, which is being distributed through new methods including vending machines in King County.
It’s amazing that this is an American city.
Gift cards are not going to solve this problem.
It’s completely out of control.

Tucker Releases New Video After Fired As Fox News Ratings Plummet To Record Low

After Tucker Carlson's surprise split from Fox News, the #1 rated cable news host in history re-emerged from his home office on Wednesday to offer a stunning 8PM monologue covering his thoughts on the media landscape, and his future.

According to Carlson, one of the things one notices when one takes a little 'time off' is "how unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are. They're completely irrelevant. They mean nothing.

"Our current orthodoxies won't last. They're brain-dead. Nobody actually believes them. Hardly anyone's life is improved by them. This moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue, and so it won't.

The people in charge know this, that's why they're hysterical and aggressive. They're afraid. They've given up persuasion - they're resorting to force. But it won't work. When honest people say what's true, calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. At the same time, the liars who've been trying to silence them shrink - and they become weaker. That's the iron-law of the universe; true things prevail."

His video had 5 million views in less than an hour.

Fox News, meanwhile, suffered a catastrophic drop in viewers following Carlson's ouster.

In the 8pm slot alone yesterday, Fox lost nearly 50% of total viewers and nearly 70% of viewers in demo compared to last Tuesday.

"Microplastics can cross the blood-brain barrier and enter the brain after being ingested, a new study on mice reveals. The brains of mice fed micro- and nano-plastics (MNPs) were found to contain them just two hours after ingestion via a mechanism previously unknown to science, suggesting that the tiny plastics found almost everywhere could be even more worrying than previously thought.

Once there, the researchers believe the MNPs could increase the risk of an array of serious diseases. “In the brain, plastic particles could increase the risk of inflammation, neurological disorders or even neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s,” said Lukas Kenner, one of the lead researchers of the study, in a statement.

Microplastics are everywhere. A sad reality of the use of plastics in almost every single aspect of daily life, microplastics and nanoplastics are being found in animals across the globe and have even been discovered in the human placenta, indicating that there may be nowhere left to hide from them.

Such particles can enter the human body through drinking water from plastic bottles and food packaging, and it is estimated that 90,000 plastic particles can enter a single human drinking bottled water each year.

Since their discovery, MNPs have become a growing health concern and have been implicated in a number of diseases. While previous research has shown how MNPs can move around the body, it was unclear whether they could gain access to the brain, with many foreign pathogens and particles failing to cross the blood-brain barrier.

To that end, researchers used mouse models to observe how polystyrene MNPs of various sizes move throughout the body and how they could invade the brain, if at all. Taking six mice, the researchers administered the particles orally to three of them and then euthanized them two to four hours later, allowing them to take samples of the brain to test for MNPs.

The team discovered that the smaller MNPs had crossed the blood-brain barrier and were present in the brain after just two hours. Some of the larger particles introduced into the mice didn’t make it through the barrier, indicating the particles were being aided by their tiny size – but the researchers wanted to look deeper into how exactly they were sneaking in."

Scientists discover antibiotic resistance genes in clouds

12. During the War on Terror the DHS was harshly criticized by progressives for civil rights violations and targeting of Muslims. Now DHS sub-entities like CISA work closely with progressive tech. Here Twitter warmly welcomes a DHS/CISA staffer's job application.

U.S. Air Force Academy: Lectures in History Vietnam War's "Operation Rolling Thunder". Douglas Kennedy of the U.S. Air Force Academy taught a class on Vietnam's War's "Operation Rolling Thunder" air campaign, which took place from 1965-68. He described goals of the campaign, such as destroying North Vietnam's transportation system, but also discussed the limitations put in place to avoid antagonizing other communist powers such as the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China.
