I’d prefer to do my own searching without having snippets pushed at me. I get that this is the direction things are heading, but seriously—if I want an AI-generated summary, I’ll ask for one.

this is more of a search engine scraper rather than an actual search engine. it's a proxy search engine.
the server is literally just a fucking scraper, but it (oftentimes) just werks.

he also claims that other TOR links to it other than the primary one provided by the main owners instance is a honeypot. it's basically searx afaik.
he has his own selfhosted git instance with the source for it.

there was some sec auditor who ended up lashing out at ddg for scraping fucking Bing results. and Bing is owned by Microsoft.
not to mention the fact that it has a lot of telemetry at the very moment you open up ddg.
UBO acts up when you go it. IIRC they claim that it is used for tracking but persists only for a session but its still telemetry.
