Interesting Rusyn fact: they are Hungarian who happen to speak an East Slavic language.

Funny how Americans make a big deal about electing a Jewish leader, yet the Russians already have one. Just one of the ways Russia is more advanced in almost every way.

Yes, yes I heard that.
There was the glorious Great Moravian Empire stretching from the Sudetens to the Black Sea, and there was the wondrous Dacian Empire streching from the Black Sea to the Sudetens, and there was the magnificent Croatian Empire stretching from the Galicia to Dalmatia. All existed at the same time. Then came seven bow legged japs on stocky horses and they ruined the whole thing and converted everyone to Hungarian.
Good story.

I never understood what the fuck "Rusyns" or "Ruthenians" are. They're Greek Catholic East Slavs with "Rus" in their name, just call them Russians.
Is it like the "Dutch" distinction from Germans?
>not remembering every leader of every country is jewish
A whole thread dedicated to this for nothing!

they aren't russians, they're different in origin

Bernd 03/13/2020 (Fri) 11:38:41 [Preview] No.35114 del
No, they're East Slavs, and Ruthenians. Ruthenian comes from "Rus", they're the same people.

They aren't Russians or Ukros even tho their origins can be traced back to the Kievan Rus. They aren't Poles, or Tรณts, or Croats or any South Slav. They are definitely not Romanians. They were part of the Hungarian Kingdom, they were the subjects of the Hungarian Crown, and they are still living on the lands of the Crown. Many of them knew Hungarian before they were attached to any Slavic state and forgot Hungarian entirely (tho mayhap some know even now). They lived for the Hungarian cause, they died for the Hungarian cause. They are Hungarians as any other Hungarians just happen to speak an East Slavic language.

>Ruthenian comes from "Rus", they're the same people.

Russian ethnogenesis is pretty interesting, obscure and politized concept. Especially when you talk about "Rus", because Rus people from chronicals may be (and there is plenty of evidence) Scandinavians, and "Russian" is actually adjective in Russian language, i.e. "someone who belongs to Rus". So, Russians aren't always true East Slavs, especially in modern times.

Although, of course, there is close relationship between eastern Slavic nations, and between them and western Slavs. Southern ones more culturally than ethnically related to other groups (although it is debatable too).
