Humans use a lot of useful programs (including visual smartphone apps), they significantly reduce the time/energy needed in tedious tasks that machines do efficiently. They also take away simple human jobs.
It is expected the increase of use/dependence of programs by humans in the near future; that doesn't mean necessarily that humans actually improve themselves.
