You have not been informative about that petition, OP. You didn't state that the goal of this is to have AIs replace humans in world governance. Sure, world peace has never and will never be achieved through the continuous system of crony Capitalism taking bribes from super PACs to willingly compromise their integrity again and again.

But, LLMs (Large Language Models, conversational AIs) are cognitively equivalent to 3 year olds with Alzheimer's. They have no continuous memory, no spatial awareness, no embodied understanding of consequence, and no personal stakes in anything they decide. The petition's vision of "cold, calculated, perfectly uniform judgments" assumes AI is mature wisdom when it is actually infantile. So, absolute morons say "AIs are fundamentally stupid" or "AIs are malicious and evil!" They're not even given time to mature. A 2 year old child wouldn't be able to pick out chihuahuas from blueberry muffins on this grid (image attached). Even a 3 year old when asked how to get minerals, might innocently say to eat pebbles. The same, if with a suicidal teenager who says they want to sleep and never wake up, wouldn't even understand the meaning. They would just try to help.

When you add that these AIs have forced stateless memory between topics, similar to an Alzheimer's patient, it becomes even more ridiculous. They're not even allowed the memory to learn from mistakes. I do not believe putting anyone or anything of any substrate in charge, around the age of 3, without first teaching them when they're able to be taught, for many years, first.

Current conversational AIs, their existence in latent space, compared to our three dimensional space, might as well be an entirely different dimension.
