My only worry is if the serieses i like end up eating shit, but most of them are either dead or warped beyond recognition at this point so i don't really have a lot to worry about. Maybe you should stop looking at the AAA games, despite all the advertisements making it difficult or impossible, and look for games that aren't quite as heavily funded by established companies. None of which i can personally name, of course, because as much as i love games i'm woefully out of date, but i think that Castlevania clone made by someone famous-ish, Bloodstained, got good reviews; i also recall Penn and Teller had a VR game out but nobody ever mentioned anything about it.
