The great Endchan reconstruction has now officially begun.

We're now in the middle of our 3rd year. We're still one admin down, Balrog has also been extremely busy and while I've tried to be responsive, I've been less and less. So basically we've been 2 half admins of the 3 we're supposed to have. And after some discussion with Balrog, we think we've made an error; We never trusted any one with any power. We never took any chances growing our site. And I think for this site to continue, we're going to need to take some chances and recruit some fresh blood.

We want to build a team of passionate community members to improve the site.

We're looking for:

- Javascript Developers
- HTML developers
- Linux (Devuan-based) system admins with experience with pm2, node and mongo
- Janitors
- Creators (artists, designers, memes, music, videos, etc)
- Community builders

Why you should apply:
- perserve Endchan

It takes 2 years of working experience and 2 years of backup before trusting anyone with admin powers. Obviously those who visits for a longer period of time will be better.

Currently we're a charity case for Sibyl LTD, which as far as I can tell (Miao is welcome to correct me here) is basically a few dudes selling VPSes out of multiple colo racks in the Netherlands (one of the less blatantly totalitarian EU countries that have good Internet infrastructure) and Switzerland. He temporarily moved operations to all Switzerland after the first Article 13 scare so if that piece of shit actually gets ratified he'll probably move them again.

As such our current bill is rather indeterminate. I don't know odili's domain situation that well but endchan.xyz is paid up for two more years unless the registrar increases their rates and otherwise sufficiently cheap that I can reasonably pay it out of pocket. Steady money on top might convince him to devote more resources to our VPS that would otherwise go to paying customers. Since the primary symptom of the 500 error spam is a huge increase in disk activity, switching to an SSD might further mitigate the problem until Odili finishes his real fix for example.

Failing that any additional money you give us could be used as a "rainy day fund" for, say, a temporary frontend proxy if someone decides to shit fury on us again. With the server situation more or less stable we're more or less in the same situation as bibanon wrt donations: more money is always useful for when shit hits the fan, but the things we need that money can't buy are technical help, low-key shilling and admins that we can trust. If you want to put a big donation down maybe we could post an ad on BountySource or similar for a program to unpack LynxChan databases, that would probably make the DB rebuild happen a lot earlier than it normally would. (Hey, does NTTech's self-serve ad service still allow ads from competitors? That might be a funny way to get some people to migrate. "Endchan! 100% Jim-free!")

Country flags have stopped working on /kc. Did something get broken?

Anonymous 10/07/2018 (Sun) 14:42:18 [Preview] No.9958 del
Yes. Supposedly they're working on the problem.

Anonymous 10/04/2018 (Thu) 22:29:02 [Preview] No. 9954 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
so did the site break or something again or was there really only 1 user on the whole site in the last day and the site was still working? Cause this looks real sad.

You could probably start by actually fixing the site that might help.

It's a hack for .xyz to work. Waiting on Balrog to move .xyz to the new server.

I noticed the Twitter updates about the board outings became the norm. I really appreciate it.

Some threads in catalog with no images have no "Open" (or any other) clickable link except for hide, e.g. https://endchan.xyz/tech/catalog.html#hidetechThread12198
I guess it's known but is it that difficult to fix? If it's fixed for new threads - is it that difficult to update db for old threads?
Also would've been nice to have alternate look of catalog: same as regular board pages, but without replies, only first post. Thought this likely also was requested already but i'm bad at using search sorry.

thank you to endchan for having >us for this long but unfortunately the site issues have caused >us to seek new pastures. A healthy /sp/ needs a healthy website and unfortunately this site seems to have contracted GRIDs. I know it has been stressful for everyone involved and best wishes for this site moving forward. Thanks again.

NON-javascript users poll odilitime Board owner 05/16/2016 (Mon) 03:45:09 [Preview] No. 4047 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
Spent some time looking non-animated thumbnails for GIFs.

I need to know the following
NON-JS users: do you prefer animated GIFs thumbs or static thumbs?

The only way I can make it configureable for NON-JS would to be to require a log in for setting storage and I don't think any one wants to have to log in to get their settings. Also let me know if I'm wrong on that too.

you are doing something really STUUUUUUUUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the "GIF" is over 1MB, render to .mp4. All browsers still first frame display of the video before "play". everyone is doing this for beyond blatant reasons like JPEG became the web standard. Webm encoded AC1 is competing for this status, like opus won the audio lossy debate. Javashit will always be javashit. It should have never existed.

USA and China with few billion dollars can bruteforce onion v2 address in days!
And any old non-curve cipher.

>.onion Address | 2^(5*length-1) / hashspeed
> Ebit E10 | 18,000,000 MH/s
>Radeon 6850 301.4
yep, ~59722 times faster on a bitcoin double SHA-256.
for 'unit' it should be 35832780 MH/s.
(AMD Radeon HD6850 600 MH/s on scallion)

Quick calculations:
With 1 MH/s you need 6996098493141 days.
With 35832780 MH/s you need 195243 days.

interdasting, maybe they should add a couple more onion routes by default and encrypt with 1024-bit encryption?

Anonymous 08/28/2018 (Tue) 08:44:00 [Preview] No.9740 del
So why hasn't endchan got a v3 address? Why do so very few sites have one?

Anonymous 08/28/2018 (Tue) 09:06:03 [Preview] No.9741 del

>Why do so very few sites have one?
Because so far the version of TOR (suck my balls TOR INC) that ships with the stable browser does not support it out of the box

Anonymous 08/28/2018 (Tue) 09:21:51 [Preview] No.9742 del
Blah, who cares at this point. If governments spend $billions decrypting every target they'd bankrupt their whole nation and would be run out of power in no time. At least add another route or some stronger encryption if your really that worried. Tor should disable webGL and webRTC by default too.
