In all reality, China now has a bigger middle class than America does today and unlike in America the majority of young people live in single family homes today.

China doesn't have a drug problem but there are definite areas of poverty. That's what the media usually shows. But in general, China has been based for the past 25 years or so. China has grown enormously when they adopted free market policy although China is very unique, just because they allow free market capitalism does not mean they allow corporations to hijack control over their politicians, government policy or dictate their way of life. If they see corruption or a risk to national security, or a risk to the welfare of their population, they are not hesitant to shut it down and break it up with force and intolerance. This is what America should have been doing all along, allowing the free market but at the same time stomping out corruption, exploitation and subversion thereof and making sure the welfare of your population is protected. China did this. America failed to do this.

The reason movies and television were so much better throughout the '50s - '90s eras is because our society was far better and enjoyed more artistic freedom and competition in the market place. Plus the fact producers could not rely on full blown CGI and flashy special effects alone as technology was far more limited. This means they relied on good acting, hiring professional stunt actors, had to keep the story lines suspenseful and interesting and it overall made movies feel more human.
