I'm thinking of getting some extra memory for all of my games on my PC and I'm not entirely sure which one would be the better one to go for, the conventional hard drive or the more recent Internal SSD

which one would you say would be more suited for storing and running the games off?

If you go HDD, avoid SMR (shingled) drives (most of the barracudas) - you'll do better with CMR drives for faster writes. Western Digital Black drives are targeted specifically to gamers if you want the discount (HDDs are cheaper per TB of storage of course).

Go with what lasts longer and have a couple extra backup copies of your files. Its safe to expect most drives won't last you forever. I just had a harddrive crash on my music laptop and ironically it was completely offline 24/7 after the initial install, had linux as an OS, was never moved around much because of the setup aside the mixer and amplifier/speaker system. Well, it crashed anyway, somehow, so I would recommend having some spare backups for a rainy day.

Those older operating systems worked better and were much more reliable but the downside is lots of modern storage mediums do not have compatible drive software and won't work with an older OS. I would say if someone desires having an older computer, go for it but also have a modern computer so they can use newer storage devices, work with newer formats, download & store more stuff, etc. A table having one old classic PC and another more modern classic laptop side-by-side would be pretty nice.

I can assure you my older laptop with a lightweight Windows 7 works much better than a brand new one with Windows 10 which would force auto-updates daily and brick up from all the invasive bloatware. If you like the newest tech go for it, if not you can sell your older stuff and there would be plenty of people like me willing to buy it up and hold onto it.

I've been working on getting a p2p imageboard functioning for a while and I decided to start fresh more recently with a new project. It's still not fully featured per se, but I feel like releasing it in it's current form since it's still functional and I want to see if it works in the wild. Hopefully you'll be able to see the existing boards and start posting.

To install:

>run "yarn build" to get the dependencies
>run "yarn start" to start the server

And you can add whatever boards you like.
This basically works like a torrent. Moderation is local, so you can delete files and posts that you don't like, but it won't be deleted for others necessarily (unless everyone else blocks them and there are no more seeders). "Subscribing" to others as moderators so you can trust them to delete for you is also possible I just haven't hooked it all up yet.
